Step #1: Follow us on Social Media

Step #2: join the Cockrell McIntosh text Message Reminder Group

CM Staff and Commons Council use remind.com to send out building wide reminders about upcoming programming and building facilities updates.  We promise not to text you at to early of an hour and we usually only send out texts about 5 minutes before an event is going to start (mainly to remind you that there is free food somewhere in the building). We average about 3-5 text messages a week.

To sign up please do the following:

Text @cmcommons to the number 81010

You will receive a welcome text from Remind
If you have trouble with 81010, you can try texting @cmcommons to (972) 347-0911

Step #3: Get ready for move-in

Move-In Day is just around the corner, and it will be here sooner than you think. The CM staff and returning CM residents are extremely excited to welcome you to the CM family.

If you are moving in during Mustang Corral Move-In you will be directed to park in the Binkley Parking Garage. Once in the garage, you will come over to CM and get the key to your room, grab a cart, and if available a Welcome Crew member to help assist in unloading your belongings. Be sure to have a photo ID with you when checking into the building to confirm your housing assignment. Parents/Family members we can not give out your students room number to you so make sure that once your student checks in they share their room number with you.

Step #4: Orientation

Starting with AARO and continuing into the Fall semester Orientation consists of activities and events that will help you start your CM and SMU experience off right. Arguably one of the most exciting and important times of your collegiate experience this is the time to make new friends, experience new things, and delve into CM and SMU traditions.  Orientation includes events such as AARO, Camp Corral, SMU Reads, Convocation, Family Weekend, Cockrell Culinary Club, Cockrell Eats, RC Games, and Homecoming.

Welcome Week - Transitions are hard, moving is hard, Texas in August is hard...the CM staff knows all of this and that is why during Welcome Week we try to take as much of the stress out of your life as possible. Starting with Mustang Corral and going through the first week of school, the CM staff will have a number of activities (all most all of which will include food) and events planned in CM and around SMU to make your transition easier. Make sure to check you emails as we get closer to August to find out the exact schedule of events.

Step #5: Still have Questions

We know there are probably a million things running through your mind as your prepare to join us in August. If after reading through the website you still have questions please feel free to email RCD Sarah. She is more than happy to give advice, help connect you with the right person in another office on campus, or just ease any fears you might have (this goes for you too mom/dad/families).

Step #6: Get excited!!!!

Move-In will be here before you know it... welcome to the family, we can't wait to meet you.
